Decatur house

The Decatur House is a historic house and museum in Washington D.C. It was built in 1818 and was designed by Benjamin Henry Latrobe. It is one of the oldest homes in Washington D.C. This along with the Pope Villa is one of the few remaining homes that is designed by Benjamin Henry Latrobe. The building is now a Nation Center for White House History and is managed by the White House Historical Association.

Pope villa

The Pope Villa is located in Lexington, Kentucky, and was designed by Benjamin Henry Latrobe in 1811. The building was designed for Senator John Pope. This building is one of only three Latrobe residences in the United States. This building was bought in 1987 by the Blue Grass Trust for Historic Preservation. It has recently gone through some restoration to give it the look that it had in 1811 and it is now on the National Register of Historic Places.

United states capital

The United States capital is one of the most recognized buildings in the world. Benjamin Henry Latrobe didn’t come up with the original design, but he later improved the design that was originally submitted by William Thornton. William Thornton got the initial bid for the building when he won the design competition for the building that was put out by Thomas Jefferson. The building is a very classic and beautiful building that has been through some crazy times in US history.

Baltimore Basilica

The Baltimore Basilica was the first roman catholic cathedral built in the United States. It was built by Benjamin Henry Latrobe and was built between 1806 and 1863 in Baltimore, Maryland. It held tons of events throughout the 19th century, many of these meetings helped shape the Catholic Church in the United States. In 1969 the building was declared a National Historic Landmark. I think that this building is incredibly beautiful, especially the dome. In 2006 there was a 3 year $34 Million restoration project that brought some of the technology up to date.

Dallas Cowboys Stadium

The last and final building that I decided to do was the Dallas Cowboys stadium in Arlington, Texas. This is also a building that brings a lot of positive memories for me. The first reason is that I grew up a Dallas Cowboys fan. This love for the Cowboys stemmed from my father. The second reason why this building brings a lot of positive memories is that I won 2 state championships in this building in high school and have played over 6 games in this stadium. The building itself is massive. Pictures do not do the size justice. The roof is able to retract which allows it to be open during the more pleasant months and close when it starts to get cold. The video screen in the middle was the largest of its kind when it was first built. This building brings tons of memories back and will always be special to me.

HPPC

The next building that I want to write about is the church that I grew up going to, HPPC. This church was a big part of my childhood because my family and I would go to church every Sunday here and I also met a good amount of my childhood friends at this church as well. I also went to Pre-K here and met some of my friends that I still hang out with today. These friends were the first people that I met when I moved here from North Carolina. I also spent the Summer of 2019 working at this church as a youth leader. This building brings a lot of positive emotions due to the connection I have spiritually to this building. I feel like I did a lot of growing up in this building. The building itself has been through a good amount of changes since I first started attending it, but the people and the atmosphere have remained the same. I always thought that the building itself was a really pretty building and had a bunch of natural light. They did renovations last year and I thought that the way they incorporated the new area of the building was very well done.

San huberto lodge

The second building that I want to talk about is called San Huberto Lodge in Patagonia, Argentina. This is the building that is the newest to me. I spent the winter of 2019 fishing out of this lodge in Patagonia. It was not only one of the coolest buildings I have stayed in, but it was also located in one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. This building only brings back some amazing memories because I was able to spend two weeks fishing with my dad in one of the most undisturbed places in the world. The building had 10 rooms on the bottom floor where all the guests from a few different countries stayed. At the end of the long hallway on the bottom floor was the dining hall where we ate all of our meals. The only room on the top floor was a big living area and a bar where all of the guests would hang out before dinner. The building itself is nothing crazy, but it brings back a lot of good memories of my time fishing with my dad in Argentina.

Bald Head island lighthouse

The first building that I choose to write about is the Bald Head Island lighthouse. This lighthouse is meaningful to me because it is the lighthouse on the island that I grew up going to with my family. When I was younger, every summer my family and I would go to Bald Head Island in North Carolina. My parents also got engaged over 25 years ago at the top of the lighthouse, so the building has a lot of meaning in my family. I used to be afraid of heights so it was an obstacle to overcome when I was younger but now it is all good memories. It looks like a pretty standard lighthouse, but it has a lot of meaning for myself and my family.
