The Champalimaud Centre

A facility by Charles Correa for multidisciplinary biomedical research. Charles was said to make architecture feel like magic in an AD article. Helping this community of this research building in Lisbon was a great opportunity to do something better.

With architecture there are many projects that you ca. be disposed to. Many public projects are or little to sometimes no commission. It is a love to the labor and it is clear by this creation be poured his soul into this building. Not only benefiting a community but inspiring all people to be better for the greater good.

The sleek, modern and circular geometrics used within this design is truly art, and from learning more about this charismatic architect it is clear that this was his intention.

Kanchanjunga

AD Classics: Kanchanjunga Apartments / Charles Correa | ArchDaily

A building located in Bombay. This buildings architecture, exterior materials and linear structure reminds me of the game Jenga. These are apartments created by Charles Correa.

These are called the garden terraces and they are strategically made to with stand the weather around the apartment buildings location. This includes storms and sunlight. This design is extremely detailed and resourceful for the longevity of the building. This not only protects the interior of the building but also the tenants that live in this space. Architecture is so important to our everyday lives and this is a prime example of how much architecture and well thought out design can impact our cities.

Charles Correa completes crystalline Islamic centre

The Ismaili Center was one of my favorite creations by Charles Correa’s. The geometrics and differentiation in materials. Charles said in the buildings website that this building is to incorporate tradition Islamic architectural details.

The building structure above is the prayer hall. This is the most beautiful and detailed material selection for this building. Made of “crystalline frosted glass dome and elegant steel trusses” (Ismaili). The piece of architecture is located in Toronto. Although this was an Islamic inspired construction and used space the materials, colors and textures of architecture work well with the scenery of Toronto. The nature around the building works into the building. This was a the best modern creation by Charles. Natural light works with the entire building and lights up the interior spaces remarkably.

The Virgin Hotel Dallas

Dallas' Long Awaited Virgin Hotel Sets Opening Date, Reveals Showy New Details
5G Studio CollaborativeVIRGIN HOTELS - DALLAS - TXArchitecture - Interiors - Entertainment

A newly built hotel in my hometown Dallas that has sparked a new side to me creatively. As an interior design student I have focused my endeavors to be in pursuit of designing residentially after college. Although this hasn’t changed my once monotoned decor appeal has shifted because of this hotel. I have visited this hotel many times now for pleasure and been around it when working in the design district this past summer.

The architectural detail and ergonomics is incredible to me. The structure, play with curve, lines and form has altered my style dramatically. I am now leaning out of my comfort zone especially when it comes to shape and color. The interior of this space is just as overwhelming as the outside. The energy is lively from the color and pattern that has taken over every square inch of the hotel.

The feeling the this hotel brings me is entertainment and happiness. I now strive to make my designs feel this way. The building was built by 5G Studios in collaboration with the Virgin hotels franchise.

Now a statement experience and building in Dallas that is shifting cities in a more creative direction. This creativity is what I find so inspiring.

Lakehouse Fantasy

This place is a new building that has impacted me. The summer that everything went south for the world our family lake-house was finished! This place got me through tough times but ultimately is my place of peace.

The builder of this home is Bannister Homes, but my mother and I designed the interior. This was real experience for me to get to be creative and put my working degree to the test. Every encounter with this home gives me a feeling of relief. After experiencing this feeling, it has come clear to me the importance of all people having places like this. Everyones space will look different and feel different but never the less I believe it is important.

The style of this home is modern. The inside is crispy but still soft because of texture and the furniture that fills the space. I love this lake-house and am thankful I will continue to get to enjoy it for years to come.

The Royal Buckingham Palace

Buckingham Palace
Changing the Guard at Buckingham Palace - Special Event - visitlondon.com

I have been to London multiple times and each time I am driven to walk by or drive by Buckingham Palace. The tradition, royalty, dedication and celebration this building stands for is amazing to me. Although we live in such a different political world in the United States I admire parts of their governmental system of having royals.

This is the home to the British Royal family. The detail, size and security of this palace is truly inspirational in person. Many renovations and changes have been made throughout history but the architects to list a few are John Nash, Ashton Webb, William Winde and Edward Blore. he interior of the building I have only seen from pictures but has stayed true to the regency style.

The royal place is powerful and a statement in England. The structure is as influential as the family. This structure is about tradition and the United Kingdoms history. It is the events that are traditional and continue to occur that make this building to interesting to me. The changing of the guards and the infamous garden parties are just two events that are held traditionally at the palace that I admire.

After seeing this architecture and building at a young age it still stands as one of my favorite to this day!

The Pantheon

My first encounter with the Pantheon was when I was about 11 years old. This building is not only overwhelming in size and scale but also in detail. I remember stepping inside the doors and being overcome with the precision of the dome ceiling. This building is important to me because it was not only one of the first buildings I toured when traveling to Europe but it ignited my love for design.

This building is recognizable by many for one of the most outstanding forms of ancient roman architecture. After being rebuilt again the first commission for this building was said to be Marcus Agrippa and the second to be emperor Hadrian. The most outstanding feature to this building in my opinion is at the highest point of the oculus, the dome, to be a hole that is open. This not only saves weight for the heaviest point of the domes ceiling but allows sunlight to transcend the interior of this well preserved around 128 A.D. building.

The purpose of this inspiring building was so to be a temple for the gods but its main use now is to be a museum to resemble its great history. Its purpose in my life is that it started my interest in exploring what it takes to make a building. The structure, the details, the interior and they way a space makes you feel. Looking back my experience at such a young age would but such a different experience now if I went tomorrow. Learning about history changes us and architecture has changed me for the better. I am now an interior design major!

I know this ancient building impacts all people in different ways and will continue to do so for years to come.
